How to Specify an Industrial Flexible Duct Connector
A concise technical checklist for flanged, silicone fiberglass and PVC fabric flexible duct connectors.

Measure both connection faces
Send a drawing or photo showing the round, square or rectangular opening, bolt-hole pattern, flange depth and available installation length. A connector must match the geometry on both sides, not only the nominal duct diameter.
State the movement requirement
Vibration isolation, thermal expansion, axial movement and lateral misalignment are different duties. The expected movement determines the connector length, fabric folds and reinforcement design.
Match fabric to the operating environment
PVC fabric can serve general ventilation, while silicone-coated fiberglass and higher-temperature coated fiberglass are used for hotter air and gas conditions. Always supply the medium, continuous temperature, peak temperature and pressure.
Inspect clamps and flanges after start-up
Initial heat cycles can affect tension at clamps and bolts. Recheck fasteners, fabric alignment and any signs of rubbing or over-extension after commissioning.
