Flexible Duct Temperature Guide: 90 C, 260 C, 450 C and 800 C

Match PVC, silicone fiberglass, clip-on and insulated duct constructions to operating heat instead of choosing by appearance alone.

Flexible Duct Temperature Guide: 90 C, 260 C, 450 C and 800 C

Start with the normal operating temperature

Record the air or gas temperature during normal operation, the highest peak, the duration of that peak and whether hot surfaces or radiant heat are present. These conditions determine the material class more reliably than a single maximum number.

Use PVC fabric only for suitable ventilation conditions

PVC-coated fabric is useful for many general ventilation and temporary-air applications, but it is not a substitute for a high-temperature connector. Verify the actual air temperature before choosing a general ventilation construction.

Silicone fiberglass for hot air and movement

Silicone-coated fiberglass is commonly selected for hot-air circulation, dryers and equipment connections where flexibility remains important. Confirm the required continuous temperature and movement cycle with the manufacturer.

Clip-on and insulated constructions for higher heat

For demanding hot-gas and high-heat extraction, clip-on fiberglass, insulation layers and metal reinforcement can provide a more suitable construction. Temperature is only one input: pressure, gas chemistry, bend radius and installation access also matter.
