How to Select a Fireproof Hose Sleeve
A buyer's checklist for temperature exposure, flame duration, abrasion, closure and installation clearance.

Describe the hazard
Radiant heat, molten splash, welding sparks and direct flame are different hazards. Record the normal temperature, worst-case exposure, duration and distance from the heat source.
Size for installation and movement
The sleeve needs enough clearance to install over fittings and allow the protected hose to flex. An oversized sleeve may snag, while a tight sleeve can be difficult to fit or may restrict movement.
Plan inspection and replacement
A protective sleeve is a service item. Establish inspection intervals and replace it after severe exposure, visible damage or coating degradation.
