PU Ducting for Abrasive Material Handling and Dust Collection
How to specify polyurethane duct hose for chips, powder, granules, dust and other abrasive materials.

Describe the conveyed material
Particle size, sharpness, bulk density, moisture, temperature and flow velocity influence abrasion and hose life. A clear description of the material is more useful than simply asking for the thickest wall.
Choose for pressure direction
Suction systems need resistance to collapse while positive-pressure conveying needs secure joints and reinforcement appropriate for the operating pressure. Do not assume one wall thickness is suitable for both duties.
Check static and grounding needs
Dry powders and fast-moving particles can generate charge. Where the process requires it, specify the grounding approach, conductive or anti-static construction and the relevant test requirement as part of the complete system.
Use installation details to protect service life
Avoid sharp bends, unsupported long spans and abrasive rubbing on machine frames. A well-supported route with generous bends can extend the useful life of even a highly abrasion-resistant hose.
