7 Ways to Reduce Pressure Loss in Flexible Ducting
Simple installation changes can improve airflow, reduce blower load and extend flexible duct life.

Keep the duct fully extended
Unnecessary compression creates deep corrugations and turbulence. Extend telescopic ducting to its intended working length and support it so it cannot bunch during operation.
Use large-radius bends
Tight bends reduce the effective area and can damage reinforcement. Use the largest practical bend radius and avoid several direction changes close together.
Limit reducers and leaks
Use gradual diameter transitions, seal joints and select clamps that do not crush the duct wall. Inspect worn cuffs before increasing blower speed.
Choose the correct wall
A smooth inner wall and pressure-appropriate reinforcement can reduce resistance and prevent collapse. For long permanent runs, combine rigid duct with short flexible connectors.
