How to Size an Industrial Ventilation Hose
Use airflow, velocity, pressure loss and connection size to avoid an undersized flexible duct.

Begin with required airflow
Airflow is normally expressed as cubic meters per hour or cubic feet per minute. The duct diameter determines velocity for a given airflow. Very high velocity increases noise and pressure loss, while very low velocity may allow particles to settle.
Account for flexible-duct resistance
Corrugations, bends and compression increase resistance compared with straight smooth pipe. Size the blower and duct as a system, and avoid installing a telescopic hose in a partially compressed condition unless the pressure calculation includes it.
Do not reduce at the equipment connection
A smaller hose fitted to a larger blower outlet can restrict the entire system. Use gradual reducers and keep bends as large and smooth as the installation permits.
