Using Insulated Flexible Duct to Control Condensation
How insulation thickness, vapor sealing and ambient humidity affect condensation on cold-air ducts.

Condensation begins at the dew point
When the outer duct surface falls below the ambient dew-point temperature, moisture can condense. Insulation keeps the outer surface warmer, but the required thickness changes with air temperature, humidity and airflow.
Protect the insulation layer
A sealed outer jacket limits moisture entering the insulation. Joints and end connections need the same attention as the middle of the duct because gaps can create local cold spots.
Balance flexibility and insulation
Thicker insulation improves thermal performance but increases diameter and bend stiffness. Provide the available installation space and minimum bend radius when requesting a custom design.
