Flexible Ducting for Welding Fume Extraction: Selection Questions
Select flexible ducting for welding fume extraction with fume temperature, suction duty, movement, routing and safety requirements in mind.

Describe the fume and capture arrangement
A welding fume extraction duct should be evaluated with the capture hood, fan, expected fume temperature, distance from the work area and the movement required by the operator or extraction arm. The hose is one part of the complete extraction system and should not be chosen on diameter alone.
Suction, heat and routing interact
Negative pressure can deform an unsuitable lightweight duct, while heat and nearby sparks may influence material selection and routing clearance. Record vacuum, airflow, diameter, length, bend radius, exposure duration and any project-specific safety requirement. Keep the duct away from direct contact with hot work unless the chosen construction is confirmed for that duty.
Confirm system and compliance requirements
Grounding, fire prevention, capture performance and workplace rules must be confirmed for the complete installation by the responsible parties. A flexible duct manufacturer can supply technical construction information and a custom connection, but should not make unverified compliance claims for the finished extraction system.
